Pour-On vs. Spray Refinishing: What’s the Difference?
Both put a new surface on an old tub. They do not last the same, smell the same or leave the bathroom in the same state.
Thickness
A sprayed coating is built from several thin passes and ends up around 0.15 mm. Pour-On enamel is applied as one continuous, self-levelling layer about 1.5 mm thick — roughly ten times more material. That thickness is why it survives suction mats, dripping faucets and daily use for 15–20 years instead of 3–5.
Fumes
Spray refinishing atomises solvent-based coatings into the air. The technician wears a respirator and you are told to leave for the day. Pour-On enamel is near-zero VOC and almost odorless; you can stay home.
Overspray and mess
With spray, every surface in reach is taped and draped, and a fine mist still settles on fixtures and floors. Pouring produces no mist and no dust.
Cure time
Spray: 48–72 hours. Pour-On: 24 hours.
